For this photo I used a super wide angle lens, Sigma 10-20mm. I love the feeling of this photo where you can taste the hall of this mall.

How great is it when you can catch movements with a still picture? Here is an example of such thing.
Fasnacht Luzern 2010 Leave a comment
On Thursday in Lucerne (CH) we had the opening of the Carnival 2010.
I took a couple of days off to go and shoot some pics.
If you want to see all the shots please click on the picture and find all the pics in my flickr stream.
Moonlight painting the snowy peaks Leave a comment
Stanserhorn by night, originally uploaded by Franzli.
When you study photography, people are saying that if you are at the right place at the right time, then you can take a great shot.
Unfortunately this weekend, I was at the right place at the right time, but the temperature was -10 degrees.
I loved the way the moonlight painted the mountains full of snow.
Of course I would suggest everybody doing this, to go out well dressed, because between one shot and the other (4 minutes exposures) you are literally freezing your but out!

The importance of the White Balance Leave a comment
Golden Giorgia, originally uploaded by Franzli.
I was playing around with White Balance with some pictures shot long ago.
I have found this one of Giorgia that was almost perfect in terms of balance but the color of her skin and the color of her hair was not really satisfactory.
I have tried setting the light temperature to 7000K and here is the result. As you can see, she now has a nice skin tone and golden hair.
Below please find the picture shot with the Automatic White Balance

Another Bokehlicious shot done at the Unique Airport in Zurich.
Of course the Canon EF 35mm f/1.4L USM helped a lot in producing this exquisite background.
Canon EF 35mm f/1.4L USM – Bokeh test @ f/1.4 Leave a comment
I have received a new Canon EF 35mm f/1.4L USM and it is behaving extremely good. The bokeh is fantastic and extremely sharp even wide open @f/1.4.
Judge yourself!
Christmas shopping by the Columnade Leave a comment
Christmas shopping by the Columnade, originally uploaded by Franzli.
Here we have another interesting shot that I have done in Como during the late afternoon. Quite tricky to expose correctly the lights around the columnade. I had to go to Manual mode and try a bit.
I believe the result is somehow interesting.
Christmas Sara in Bokeh Leave a comment
Christmas Sara in Bokeh, originally uploaded by Franzli.
I love walking around the cities in December, while the Christmas light in the background are creating a magical bokeh.
This is an example of the power of the Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS USM @ f/2.8 creating a magical bokeh.
Escape from the tube Leave a comment
Escape from the tube, originally uploaded by Franzli.
You miss the air, you can’t breath, you must escape and when you almost reached the exit, you feel like fainting, doing your final steps. The other people in the other direction going down to the center of the earth are looking at you, they know you are almost out and they just came in. They know exactly what you feel…
Suddenly… you are out… you can breath fresh air….
A note: I remember that after this shot I said: “on film I would have never wasted a shot, but then it turned out to be a great one”.
The important thing is how you see the shot at the end of the process.
At the end it’s a 50%/50%.
